About Us
Launched in 2002 by national charity 4Children, with the support of Nestlé UK, Make Space is a £4million national programme working to ensure a positive future for teenagers through the creation new-style youth clubs based on the Make Space model.
The Make Space campaign objective is to create and support a strategic model of development, via a network of contemporary clubs for young people aged 11-19 across England. Working with local clubs, schools, local authorities and national organisations, we listen to young people and work towards meeting their needs.

“I want to see a new start for teenagers in communities where they have nothing to do, nowhere to go and nowhere to call their own…Their message is clear: they said to give young people more of a stake in communities and give us more opportunities.”
Lily Allen
Youth icon and Make Space Ambassador, on the Make Space Youth Review consultations with young people
Make Space clubs are designed by young people for young people – providing a place to go, things to do and opening doors to new opportunities.
Make Space model
The Make Space integrated model is about creating spaces in communities for young people that they have ownership and control over. Make Space centres can provide young people with modern and accessible facilities outside of school hours – where they can meet their friends, get involved in activities and learn new skills, do their homework and stay safe – but their impact can be much wider than this. The centres also act as physical and virtual centres from which young people are able to access a wide range of information and advice, as well as other supportive services and activities.
High quality, joined up approaches such as these are proven to make a real difference in outcomes for young people and are now at the heart of the Government’s vision for youth services contained within its Aiming High for Young People ten year strategy, published in 2007.
Make Space support
Make Space offers a range of support services to children’s/youth settings, out of school clubs and activity programmes for young people, including a FREE membership scheme, information, events and good practice advice, plus a fantastic range of exclusive activity programmes.
